Nope. If the galaxy was as wide across as the U.S., the sun would be less than 1/3 the width of the thinnest human hair (~6 microns)I think if the sun were the size of a size 12 font period, the galaxy would be the size of the United States.
Not even close. If you don't have time to read the article, it scales the universe 4,000,000,000:1 by making the sun the size of a basketball. Even then, the Milky Way is 125,000,000 miles across.
