If you mean the scale solar system, I've enjoyed that walk a number of times. I wouldn't want to attempt to walk across a Milky Way model built to that scale.

Not even close. If you don't have time to read the article, it scales the universe 4,000,000,000:1 by making the sun the size of a basketball. Even then, the Milky Way is 125,000,000 miles across.

Nope. If the galaxy was as wide across as the U.S., the sun would be less than 1/3 the width of the thinnest human hair (~6 microns)

Must've been something smaller than a period then. (a .25mm diameter period, with that scale would result in a 41,000 mile wide galaxy). Still visibile though, maybe a grain of dust?
