Oh, and I noticed that all the scaffolding from the Neptune restoration has been rolled over under the PBY. Hopefully, it's in preparation for the next project. . .

Is flying with the gear down ops normal for the 53 then?

The gear is retractable. There are no aero limits or performance issues that mandate flying with retracted landing gear.

Some squadrons bolt their birds' landing gear down. Ops normal is up or down.

Sorry, I just got prop signed off on my PQS so there went several memories of mine from the past, that must have been one of them.

I didn't mean it that way, sorry if I came off that way. I just find it interesting that that question has been popping up a lot lately.

Haha, no worries. I know what you mean though, the 53 gear seems to be one of those things that are reoccurring.
