The Eyes have it - All things Vision-related

Hi!

SNA , got word I’m NPQ because of hyperopia meridian outside limits, 20/20 in right eye 20/20-1 in left … have the option to redes into NFO … any potential to go back into SNA pipeline with lasik during wait around phase once I get to Pensacola?

On the fence about DOR and just going NFO ..

Bummer about the DQ.
There’s are instances people have done the switch NFO to SNA in Pensacola. But they’re rare and require a lot of luck and timing.

Which you probably won’t have currently due to the limited wait time in Pensacola.

I had a dude in my OCS who had originally DORed then came back post lasik. It has been done.
Otherwise, take the NFO offer if you’re interest. But I would not recommend it if you’re doing it just to try to swap back to SNA after check in.

We’ll see if anyone is still active in this thread but got a question for anyone who maybe went through the same thing or have seen similar.

Went through meps yesterday and Eveything vision related was perfect besides my depth perception test. I kinda rushed through it and I believe the instructions were given to me poorly. Ended up getting 100arc seconds.

Recruiter gave me a call and said to go get a retest at a civilian optometrist. So I did, still same day and got a in depth vision analysis found out I was actually at 50arc seconds. Recruiter said he was going to send it in and see if it gets accepted but has anyone ever seen 50arc get in for SNA because to my knowledge 40arc is the cutoff. Outside of that literally vision is perfect 20/20 and 20/15 BU

I also bombed the depth perception at MEPS the first time round. I ended up getting 20 at a civilian optometrist and then retesting at MEPS and passing on round #2. I’d try to ask for a retest, if possible.

I’ve never heard of someone getting in with a 50 arc :( And even then, I would be concerned about failing the depth perception at OCS. I was super frustrated with the depth perception shenanigans and my recruiter made it clear to me that it’s non-waiverable

I would try to maybe see one more civilian optometrist and getting a second opinion. I know this might sound goofy, but I was super stressed and I think getting enough sleep and calming down really helped me out lol (make sure you’re properly hydrated too)

Aviation doesn’t waive vision requirements, including DP.
