Making Recruiting Great Again
stepping in with some questions,
I got PRK, 20/20 and my recruiter submitted around early June all the paperwork for my flight medical. Do you know what the usual timeframe is on the turn around? I'm not 100% if we are waiting on a "PRK waiver", but I'm going to assume yes because my vision was really bad pre- eye surgery. unfortunately, it seems I won't make the sept board.

Rule of thumb is 6 month wait post op. However if your eyesight is stable earlier, then that shouldn’t hold up getting a waiver reviewed.

When did you actually get the surgery done?
Oct 2024, the 6 months passed and i submitted all the documentation. Did all my visits and kept record of everything. Im not really sure what the medical process is on the backend. All i know is he photocopied all the documents from my visit and told me to get a post 6 months visit, which i did, and then he submitted it all and now we are waiting on that.

Did you go to MEPS yet?
No, the process was;

ASTB/OAR, created the packet, filled out the SF86 via the Navy link he provided, recruiter submitted the vision paperwork with all my surgery documents (which is what we are waiting on), after I get approved he said I would go to meps and then we wait to see if the board accepts me. Something along those lines.
