There is no F-ing way your onwing will down you for something that trivial. I think your time would be more well spent on studying more useful GK like your major systems or all the different parts that are visible on the engine when you open the cowlings, because you can almost guarantee your check pilot will ask you some of those.
Here is a random question for you prefilight GK junkies: What is located in the 4 engine mount tubes (that connect the engine to the firewall), what color is it when it is new, and what is its purpose?
 
The mounting bars are filled with lynseed oil. It's there to dampen the vibration of the engine during operation.

Its some sort of fluid... colored like nothing else in the engine compartment (red i think) and its purpose is to tell you if there is a crack in the mount by leaking out through the crack...
 
Forget about the spring and wooden block... they're nothing but FOD anyway. Just concentrate on stuff that really matters like FLYING. Your gear isn't going to fall off if you don't see a wood block. If nothing else, just make something up... be elaborate though, as to not sound like you DID make it up. Cite natops a lot or something...
