Anyone know where i can find a dumbed down drawing of the oil system to go off of for fam2. The Natops one is crazy complex, Im not sure what is really needed for the brief.

Go with the natops one man, it's really not that difficult once you look at it a couple of times, and that's what they're probably going to want to see. You don't need to make it look as pretty as the freakin book just get the point across and that should suffice. Plus it never hurts to impress.

Just use the one that you can explain...if you can get them through it without screwing it up, you should be fine

What street was that banner on? (Assuming that is Illinois)

I agree, go with the NATOPS drawing. I learned off of the one in the systems book (just that this line goes here) but I told my onwing that it seemed too simple and he just replied "Good call cause I would have pounded you if that was all you had". The whole system isn't that difficult.

Good luck!

I used the systems books with the addition of the lines and pumps that went to the bearings from the natops... and that was fine. Your best bet is to ask the student that had your IP as an onwing before you.

Pretty sure those signs were around the 1st and Green area at U of I...right behind where the DI building is I think. Took leave to hit up unofficial this weekend and I remembered how great that school was.

Most IPs are ok with a hybrid of the two...the systems book gives you a good overall but lacks some very important details which are what the IPs are looking for...study off both plan on something in between. Again they don't expect it to be pretty...

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to squeeze again.

That had (HAS) me in stitches! It must've worked...after all, you're a Harrier Dude.

Anyway, illinijoe, get in the habit of using NATOPS as the "source document." The systems text is good amplifying information (NATOPS tends to be 'just the facts'), but the text is only based on NATOPS. You could get away with a text or 'hybrid' diagram in your brief, but you will increase your knowledge of the system if you study and brief the system completely. If you don't understand something aircraft related, and can't find your answers in NATOPS, don't hesitate to ask the maintenance bubbas. They can go into as much or as little detail as you need.

I always found it helpful in learning where things are and where they go by imagining I'm a drop of fuel/oil/hydraulic/water, etc.,whatever fluid you are, and starting outside the plane. Like, I'm in an oil can, how do I get into the reservoir, where do I go from there, what lines, what pumps? How do I get to where I'm used?

I know it sounds gay, but if you can talk your way through the system as a drop of oil, you will be more than prepared for your brief. (It helped me look at it in this way rather than look at a big schematic and say, "Holy ****! That's complex.) You might even find your instructor stops you somewhere along the line with, "Okay that's enough...you got it."

Yeah, 1st and Green-ish...by the gas station there. And unofficial was pretty good this year, I went back also. illinijoe needs to study more, everyone hates him anyways.
