SWO for Medical Corps?

This was new to me - good friend who has a nephew and she celebrated his completion of active duty as a MD and return to civillian life.

The "Medical Corps SWO" device caught me off guard - so this is a thing? Is this a OOD Underway qualification?

I think they’ve been around a long while. I recall at least one doc wearing one in 2003.

This is similar to the SWSCO pin and provides for Medical Corps and Nurse Corps officers to become "experts" in Surface Warfare.
 
Does the device signify officer of the deck underway qualification for a Navy doctor?

Or is it merely completion of a pqs exercise?
