Interesting enough, I nearly got underway on an Army vessel during my last deployment. It had me wondering if I could get sea pay for it.
I once worked with an Army EW Warrant who was greatly amused that the Navy had ships commanded by O-4s to O-6s, and the Army had ships commanded by CWO5s.

The Army’s ships are just large LCUs.

LCUs in the Navy are commanded by senior enlisted.

I realize this, but thought the interservice ball-busting was worth a chuckle. Sheesh . . .

Sorry, my joke lost in translation.

I’ve gotten a lift from those guys in the AG before, and they made the same quip, and I gave the same reply. The CWO didn’t like it... ;)

Thought it would be fun to compare:

LCU - Senior Enlisted
Capacity: 36 troops
Crew: 7
Length: 160'
Disp: 574 tons

LSV - Senior Warrant
Capacity: 900 tons/15 Abrams tanks
Crew: 31
Length: 273' or 315'
Disp: 4266 tons

LSD - Senior Officer
Capacity: 3 LCUs or 4+1 LCACs or 21 LCMs + 500 Marines
Crew: 330
Length: 609'
Disp: 16,000 tons

And then we have this....
