Wanted to clear something up. Just because you are a "LT" (meaning you have done a tour as ASUPPO) it doesn't mean you are too senior by any means to be on a submarine. Ask any of the second tour guys/gals that are on subs right now. You are a one person show and normally you don't have any experience with the LS side of the house or the CS side. You have to know it all and you don't have someone else to ask questions. So I wouldn't agree with the above statement. However, I would also say that you don't have to be the top of the class to get a sub, but you do have to get a independent rating by the instructors saying that they trust you to operate on your own and that you will make smart decisions.
