The SPAD's too expensive to operate for one guy who's not independently wealthy, plus I'd probably kill myself in it. I'm holding out for a good Stearman, something in Navy colors ...

My dad has a Stearman and I have a few hours in it. Its a "Cadillac of the Sky," flies so much smoother than our C172 but much tuffer ground handling. Dad ground looped it the day he bought it home and had been flying for 20+ years... it likes grass fields and little/no crosswind.

You're telling me. And had he picked it up, he might actually let me fly it by now. God knows it was 10 yrs of flying and a Hornet natops qual before he let me land his Bonanza
