There was also the ECMO who freaked out and went the other way. Not to run drugs, just to desert. Allegedly, Mommy was some high-powered lawyer or politico, and rumor had it she was in the Commodore’s office demanding they take it easy on her baby.

My idea was to fill up the sonobuoys we carried on the counter narcotics “deployments” to El Sal with high grade Colombian bam bam and bring them home on a maintenance run.

Could have paid for the whole deployment with a few runs like that.

There was also the Marine who picked up a hooker that turned out to be an undercover cop (and not a hot one, either). That must have been an awkward conversation with his wife. He was stuck in purgatory as the MOC Lt for a long while as he was awaiting his NJP.
 
The MOC has always been a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Especially beware those assigned the longest.

The story went that the Captain was very upset and said something along the lines of “I’m so pissed, I can’t believe you two would go to the ATM, take cash out, and than make the conscious effort to buy cocaine to do”

And one of the students replied with
“Well yea, sir. Drug dealers don’t take debit card”

Least that was the story I heard way back when. If I recall they both had Masters in Aero Engineering from a good school that they went to directly from the Academy.

I have heard stories of folks in other sorts of high achieving programs (not military) that see coke as a study aid.
