Howdy,
I'm currently finishing my senior year in Aerospace Engineering and I'm interested in becoming a pilot. Right now I'm considering both the Navy and the Air Force but I'm leaning more towards the Navy.
Heres a little info about me
-21 years old
-3.68 in Aerospace Engineering
-vision is -4.25/-4.0 and I am planning on getting PRK November 16.
Here are some questions I had that I am hoping ya'll might be able to answer.
1) Navy vs Air Force. Im leaning more towards the Navy, because carriers are awsome, but the air force has some very cool airplanes. Is it true that the Navy has a higher ratio of jets/total airplanes than the Air Force? What are your biased opinions as to why Naval aviation is better than Air Force aviation?
2) The Navy officer recruiter I talked to said I would have to wait 6 months after the PRK procedure to send my application and the Air Force recruiter said one year. I read somewhere that getting PRK done outside the military might be diqualifying but the navy recruiter said getting it done privately would be fine. Is this correct and am i just worrying about nothing?
3) Is it possible to pursue a masters/phd while in the military or would it be better to get a masters before applying to the Navy? What kind of options are their in the Navy for higher education? Does the navy have any research labs and would it possible to go work at one after completing the required 8 years of service?
Thanks for taking the time to read through my post. Im especially interested in ya'lls answers to my first question.
