SEALs on Trial?

I just don't think the team leader would have reported something as simple punch in the face up the chain. Maybe I am wrong but I would guess it would take something a lot more for a SEAL team leader to report his own men. I don't think we will know the full story until the court martial, if even then.

Playing devil's advocate here... Could have been the straw that broke the camel's back. You can only sweep so many incidents under the carpet. If that's not the case then yes... that's pretty outrageous.

It's also interesting that the article says they turned down ADMIRAL's mast...you've got to wonder why anybody felt it had to go up that high.

And this just shows that (if, hopefully, they are only guilty of a minor strike and not something more devious and criminal) SEALs not only have physical toughness but the fortitude to stand up for what it right, and not take a lesser punishment at the sacrifice of their honor and integrity. It would be tempting for many.

As for this assclown who made the complaint... a fat lip? A simple, minor slap/hit to the face? Come on... I'm sure there are thousands of folks who took camping trips to Warner Springs and/or Rangeley who have gotten just as bad or worse... He's a HVT and suspected of being responsible for a LOT of bad things... a simple strike to the face (if it was EVEN that) is probably par for the course, if not going easy on him.

The story, as written, sounds outrageous. However, there might be a lot more to it than what Fox News published so far. It's not like they're a biased news agency or anything.
 
The article really gives very little information about what actually or allegedly happened. If a terrorist mouthed off and a SEAL hit him in the mouth, I have no problem with that, and I think we have a problem if the Navy loses its mind over a fat lip. Although I'm sure it happens frequently, it is also problematic if we have sailors lying in an investigation. We have to trust our people to tell the truth. If they won't be truthful or they don't trust the Navy to be reasonable in this type of situation, we have a breakdown in order and discipline.
 
Reading the article it sounds like to me that he told the Iraqi police he was abused by his captors, then when he was returned to the Americans, the SEAL leader reported the charge up the chain of command. I'm not real sure anyone on the SEAL Team saw anything or did anything beyond forwarding up an acusation, and the article doesn't say explicitly one way or the other.

I still hope this gets dropped. Even if it's proven he has a fat lip, he could have fell down the stairs, or hit himself.
 
And having a civillian trial for the Gitmo detainees won't have any hiccups at all....

Wow...F****** unbelievable...and they published the SEAL team's names?...Maybe I'm missing something but wouldn't that compromise the ability of these guys to go on secret missions in the future?....and even more importantly it sure seems to pose a threat to the families of these brave men!...:icon_rage
 
I think the issue is not over a slap or punch to the face but rather the accusation that some of the SEALs provided false statements and impeded the investigation of the matter. That's a big "no-no" no matter what you actually did big or small.
 
Where did everyone's balls go in America?

A 'bloody lip'??? This is a huge non-incident and I'm a little perturbed it's going to waste tax dollars
