Looked at another EoTech (already got one, the M552 mounted on an AR) and some of the ACOGs for my new AR Christmas present to myself --- did a side by side comparison with all three .... went with the Leupold CQ/T with the CQ/T quick-disconnect flattop mount. I knew nothing about it prior ... I'm basically sold now:

From the Leupold website:

..."The Leupold Mark 4 1-3x14mm CQ/T is a revolutionary optical sight for tactical firearms such as the AR-15 and M16. Developed in cooperation with both the U.S. military and law enforcement agencies, the Mark 4 CQ/T combines the strengths of a red dot sight and a variable power riflescope. Incredibly tough, 100 percent waterproof, and devastatingly accurate, only the Mark 4 CQ/T is ready and able to handle the variety of close-contact situations common to both law enforcement and the military...."

The Circle Dot Reticle:

...a bold aiming point for the operator, and also provides range estimation.
Range Estimating with the Circle Dot Reticle
Estimating range using the Circle Dot reticle is simple. Place the target inside the circle of the reticle. At 3x the diameter equates to 6 feet in height at 100 yards. At 200 yards, 6 feet is measured from the dot to the edge of the circle.

Sooooooooo ..... What do some of you guys like for your "tactical" optics ... and WHY??? SAY HELLO ... !!!

I've got a Mk 4 on one of my HBARs...but it is set up for long range coyote sniping. The other HBAR is waiting patiently for some optics.

Military variant of the EO tech- 1 mil dot. Works good in most situations, including off axis eye relief. I wouldn't mind a little magnification though. Also looking at Trijicon ACOG (marine version). Weaver has also come out with a new low profile (supposedly 1/2 inch lower to barrel) mildot. A$, how much did the unit run you? Trijicon is $1200 list, about $900 through discounter.

A4s - Thought you would like this; I just completed my first AR build - and my first AR for that matter. My project is a standard 20" service rifle with flat top upper. I purchased the upper kit (HBAR 1:9 barrel installed, aligned and configured to flat top upper. This included the bolt assembly, buffer spring, buffer, buffer tube, lower parts kit and A2 stock. $459 to my door UPS from www.jtdistributing.com

Then purchased striped AR lower from FFL in Lexington KY www.centerfiresystems.com for $109 delivered.

Total for this rifle: $568

1 hour later, thanks to the excellent build guidance on ar.15com I had my rifle assembled, quality and safety checked in about 90 minutes once I assembled some basic tool.

The experience was fun and I learned what an engineering marvel of simplicity the AR rifle is. Plus I now have a detailed understanding of hoew the thing works!

Now I can't wait to customize the thing! Pics to follow!

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was just Brett posting another naked picture of himself.

The Leupold CQ/T runs @ $700 ... I think I paid $695 ... MSRP is @ $850 but you can get it pretty much anywhere for @$700 or so ...

I went with it after a side-by-side comparison with an EoTech (already got one, as I mentioned) and an ACOG, primarily because I like the "dial-up magnification" aspect of the Leupold scope, I liked the range-estimating with the dot + ring, easy battery (AA - 600 hours) replacement, and the field of view @ 100 yards is far better than the competition in my opinion.

It's physically a "little" long for my taste, but not "heavy" as some detractors claim. Mounted on a flattop with the quick release mount, it welded nicely and the eye relief was comfortable for me. Again, a lot of it is personal preference .. you just need to compare the CQ/T, ACOG, EoTech, and various others to find out what YOUR likes/preferences are ...

And hey ... it a Leupold, yes??? :)

I'd be interested to hear where you got a German made Beretta? And who makes that suppressor?
