Random Griz Aviation Musings

Looks like the NTSB is placing the full cause on the pilot.
Wondering what the final report says about the powertrain separation from the cabin roof structure.
I am unable to open the link to the final report, is anyone able to do so? Thanks

Easier to read here….but this is for the LTE accident that occurred on take off (gross overweight). It seems to me you are looking for one that broke apart in flight, but I might be mistaken.

Looks like USCG will sunset accelerate sunset of MH-65. Taking the Force to an all H-60 helo fleet.

I’m sure others saw this but I thought I’d post it here. No one was hurt, and considering the emergency, this was a nice landing. Guess it’s time for a new zombie WB-57 Canberra!

Looks like a good day for the SIM. :D

@ChuckMK23 Do you all have access to a full motion/non-motion flight simulator? Is MS Flight Sim or X-Plane an option?
My office is right next to the base C-17 sim but its so heavily utilized I have not been able to get a slot!

We have a Cessna 182T G1000 NXi Redbird Sim at HQ down at Maxwell that we use for transition training of active duty folks to get the buttonology down.

When we have CAP conduct the UPT Prep course, we contract with Redbird to have Cessna 182 Sims (6x) shipped to the event site (Either Denton, TX or Columbus, IN) - honestly great training devices.

Your oil door is open.
Kept open so the engine pre-heater can be plugged in (the plug is accessed from the oil door) There is a foam rubber cover that you can't see to keep water and snow out. The plane stays plugged in 24x7 in the cold wx months.
