I can't tell you how jealous I am of you all with orders. I got really excited yesterday when the lady said all BOOSTERS will get their orders first. Now I check BUPERS every 10 minutes. Did anyone else's command let them take house hunting leave without orders ?

Ksmittay, Onebadsss,

Yes on the website and the "official letter" said the 24th of Feb. But now my orders say the 16th of Feb, but the graduation date is still the 23rd of May.

I'm sure everyone will be getting their orders soon, maybe they are going alphabetically?

So does that mean I can detach from my current command as early as the 16th of January and take leave until I have to report to Newport? I'm kinda hazy on why it's worded "delay 30 days in reporting"

That is exactly what that means. You can have 30 days from the day you detach until the day you report. Thus, 30 days of leave.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a little jealous of all you guys getting orders! I have had all my info submitted for a month and I'm still waiting on the medical portion, I was really hoping it would go through in a few days like it did for some of those who have posted. Be that what it may, congrats to those of you with orders, I hope the people who were about to go on deployment, or who are stationed overseas (and HI/Guam) were among those who have orders.

Congratulations with orders! :) I assume you are not going to BOOST, is that correct? Is everyone checking BOL website for orders?

Totally jealous! How much is tuition going to cost you a year? I would love to go to SoCal for school but its just not financially feasable for me at this time. Now you can start checking out from work. We should catch a burger and a beer before you head out of town! :icon_zbee

The first year is going to be about 15K out of pocket, but it will be worth it, I will just defer payments until I am done with school, then it will be like i am still making the same amount of money, instead of absurd money.

Speaking of tuition; does anyone know when the Navy pays for ours? I am hoping to schedule my courses before I go to NSI; so that I do not run into FULL courses and can take what I need to this summer.

I was also wondering about this as well as has anyone on here applied for financial aid (filed a FAFSA) and if so were you approved for aid or not?

FAFSFA covers everything from loans, grants, and some scholarships. It's not a matter of getting accepted just what you are eligible for. From everyone I have talked to we make slightly too much to get pell grants and that type of thing. Another problem I have found is that the majority of scholarships available out there are for high school seniors, leaving us old navy guys out in the cold. Personally I haven't filed for FAFSFA because we haven't completed out taxes yet.
