I wanted a sub-compact .45 ACP and was going with either the Glock 36 or the S&W M&P .45. However, held the Kimber and for whatever reason, it felt best in my hand. Now I'm replacing my Glock 21 with it as it's 18 years old but in those 18 years, I never had a single issue with it. Not one FTF or FTL, etc. I'm hoping I got a good Kimber as I hear there are some issues with the 3" 1911 models like mine. I've shot other models and they were awesome IMO. I think it needs a brake in period of 500 rounds or so. Still going to get another Glock, probably a 23 or the new 21 SF. Anyway, pics:

A marine stud said that thing felt like you weren't carrying anything. Nice pick up for sure.

Sweet. My brother has one we were down on our place in Kentucky last weekend shooting it. It's not wild about the 185 gr SWC I load for my full size 1911 but it shot everything else fine and it's a nice carry for sure.

Good stuff. 4.75 height is good for most hands. Unless you're the USN nontypical anthro type - that model is probably the perfect fitting weapon for CCW. Congrats on the acquisition.

If the grip is a little small for you, you can throw a Smith & Alexander magwell on there. A friend has the same pistol with the magwell and it is still shorter than a full size grip, but adds just enough to make it feel more comfortable.

If you get the 21SF DO NOT get the ambi mag release, unless you absolutely need it. It's very notchy and requires more pressure to release the mag. While I love my G21SF (even with its shitty mag release), it has been replaced by my G20 for winter carry. That 10mm packs a serious punch for an autoloader.

just slackin...
I have read somewhere that it's a good idea to replace the split follower magazine that comes with these with a solid follower mag as the split follower can cause issues with the feed ramp. I know Wilson Combat makes top-notch mags and they have a solid follower. I have a few for my Colt and Springfield 1911's and they're fantastic.

I like the grip on the Kimber above. I looked for wilson mags but I guess I need to order them online. Going to the range tonight for 200 rounds.

Check out Brownell's for Wilson mags. Call them to place your order and let them know you're military. The mags go from ~$37 a pop down to ~$30 a pop. Also, if you set up an account on Brownell's make sure you put military as your occupation. This will give you access to mil pricing on all the items in the catalog instead of having to call to inquire. It will display the retail price lined out and give you the mil price so you can see how much you're saving.
