You have got be kidding me! The one on the right looks like an Air Force outfit while the gal on the left looks like she is a Marine! What is with all of the uniform ideas! I was never enlisted, but I did enjoy the coveralls while on cruise last year. Why do these different uniform concepts always look like the uniforms from other services?

contemplating applying again...
utilities suck... they look like janitor or prisoner uniforms, not to mention the fact the pants are really uncomfortable. at the same time i don't think blue camo is a viable alternative. let's go back to denim bellbottoms and chambray shirts!!

*edit. YIKES!!! i posted without looking at the link... i assumed (first problem) this was about the cammies. These things are hideous!!!

make the pants and cover gray and we could have the Imperial uniforms from star wars. :p

The gray utilities: Let's try a third time to remake a crappy uniform into another crappy uniform. Other than putting ribbons on it, what is the difference with the one now?

The kahki one: We can't design our own uniform so let's steal the Marine uniform.

One more thing, isn't that style of female shirt a little out out of date? Ladies, any comments?

Officers' dress blues look like airline pilots because it's the Delta Airlines suit, different stripes. All you have to do here in Atlanta is call up Abbott's and tell them whether you'll by flying friendly or unfriendly skies.

As for the women's uniform, the day the Navy realizes that a great many of their female sailors actually have waistlines, I'll die of shock.

Oh - and guys, as much of a pain as chokers are to wear, realize that chicks dig choker whites (although, as we all know, it's not all choker whites and dining outs).

Damnit Cate, you just had to through that in there and make me spew Coke all over my monitor, didn't you?!. Very funny by the way.

Here is a tribute to that thought:

Personally, I'm glad the military dress uniforms aren't subject to popular fads. In the early nineties we might have had pegged trousers.

Maybe I can throw in my $0.02 since I had prior time as an E. My stint stopped while the bellbottom dungarees were phased out, so I never wore those. Avoided wearing the utilities during my NROTC summer cruises.

The dungarees were very comfortable and I was proud to wear them because I was representing the Navy, but they were somewhat embarrassing to wear since they resembled prison gear... if that makes sense without making it sound contradicting. There were only certain places off base that you were allowed to wear them. I suppose the utilities were just as comfortable, with the same provisions off base. The Navy definitely needs a year-round service uniform that E-6 & below can wear off base.

That blue uniform is still too much like the uniform the sailors are tired of wearing. The Navy just polished it up by adding medals/warfare pin, command rocker, and the garrison cap. The khaki one may look like the Marines, but it is at least similar to what Navy E-7 & above wear. I vote for the khaki version.

Actually the airlines started the uniforms after copying the uniform of a captain of a ship.

According to the latest issue of Navy Times, there will be a "Phase Two" for Task Force Uniform that involves a survey. What will the survey be? Glad you asked. It will involve uniforms for E-7 and above. Yes, that means the choker whites. Uh oh, it may NEVER be choker whites anymore, but at least dining outs are here to stay!

Oh heck, let me change my response, those are just ugly. Keep the blues and whites, just don't give us those...

The dude in the picture has one eye bigger than the other. It kind of creeps me out.

Also, the blue looks like the current dungs (mostly) but with the added hassle of having to put ribbons on them.

Of course, these would be replacements for two uniforms that people rarely complain about anyway ... WTF?

Brain fart! For some reason, I was thinking this new proposal is to replace the utilities. Forgot about the new BDU concept.

I agree with you fc2spyguy, the working blues and whites would be better to keep. I wonder if a new service uniform can ever be thought of that will please the majority without stealing from other services.

I'm glad to see that all that extra money they saved by closing out rates and stopping re-enlistments went to good use...smacks head against desk repeatedly. I bet the Marines will love

Anyone notice something that is likely wrong with the guys (first class) ribbons?
