So, my motorcycle was stolen 6 months ago (may 17th), and State Farm paid off the value of the vehicle, but I'm STILL trying to get the GAP insurance company to pay off the loan. The last document they need is a statement of the initial amount financed, FROM THE FINANCE company.
I've contacted the finance company every month for the last 6 months, requesting this document. they then refer me to an address for their correspondence office to mail them and request this information. I fax, AND mail them, but I never receive a response EVER. Their main office doesn't have a phone number for the correspondence office, and I can't find one either.
So basically, I call the company, they tell me to fax and mail this address, I do so, and receive no response. So I'm paying on a loan that has spiked its interest rate due to there no longer being collateral on it. Which is all too convenient and profitable for the company that won't give me this damn piece of paper.
Is there anything I can do to force them to give me this information, or force them to give me a phone number for this correspondence office? I don't know much about the freedom of information act, but can I use it to force them to give me this information?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am well beyond the point of despair, and I understand that nobody on here is giving me "legal advice or counsel", just some recommendations.
