BOth of my parents are retired USN (they just loved my decision to join the Corps) and when I get commissioned next month, I wanted to give them a little memento.
Dad was a pilot and mom a Chief, so I've been scouring ebay for wings and anchors from WWII. I found a nice anchor that the seller claims came from a WWII chief, but I can't find any pics of what insignia from the 40s looks like. I want to make sure I didn't get duped here.
I attached a pic of the anchor I have. I would really appreciate some uniform/rank insignia studs telling me exactly what I have here.
I can vaguely remember reading something that claimed all WWII CPO anchors had the askew "N" in USN, and this was changed shortly thereafter.
correction: upon closer inspection, there is a small shield (extremley small, my camera can't capture it) right above the lower clasp for the pin. I have attached 2 more pics, one with my cover device (for size comparison, if it will be any help) and one for the back.
Thanks for any help!
