Of course they did. It was a stupid exercise and waste of everyone’s time and money to go down this rabbit hole.
It seems to be a very solid judicial philosophy neutral constant. The Supreme Court will always default to non interference with how the military runs itself. Thank God for that.

That would explain why it took an an act of Congress to stop a tradition of systemic workplace discrimination against homosexuals in the military. SCOTUS never interfered since, prior to that, the DoD simply was acting in the interest of good order and discipline. Thank God for that, I guess.

The people's representatives decided to change laws that directed the DOD to change how they dealt with homosexuals. Damn right it is good that the Supremes left it to congress. Now if only SCOTUS left about 30% of their docket to the democratic process.

534 medical and administration exemptions approved and 2,541 religious exemptions -- all of them -- disapproved.
When the Republicans take back the House of Representatives in 2022, it will be interesting to see if they can force changes to this policy.

Soldiers who were forced out of the Army for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine have received letters with instructions on how to rejoin, as the service faces its toughest recruiting environment in a generation.

This is a bit misleading. The letters (and offer to return) is mandated by Congressional action, not because of recruiting/retention pressures.

And of course Congress decided to send those letters out of the goodness of its heart, and not because of recruiting shortfalls.
