Kind of a threadjack...but the token Middle Eastern dictator in Iron Eagle was awesome.
TRIVIA QUESTION....who was Chappy's friend that owned the smokey bar/restaurant where they did their mission planning?!?

uh yeah, but sometimes the wheel just spins and nothing happens, great way to build forearm strength, but then suddenly it works and all is good.
I was just busting your balls; I've got time in the Traumahawk myself, and it's proof positive that's its possible to have not enough airplane for the job, even if that job is basic pilot training. It's too lightweight, and the T-tail means that if you hit turbulence, it doesn't fly, it "swims" . . .

NAS Lemoore (and the Fresno area in general) severely suck. Severely. Very severely. Always have, always will ...

Yup. It can't hold a candle to the rest of california. It's a great location from the Navy's point of view; No "Citizens Against Jet Noise" out there. It was fine for me the 4 years I spent there. Once you get a wife and kids life is pretty much 90% the same no matter where you live. And if you're single, squadrons are gone so much now it won't matter anyhow.

Slappy...

I'll admit I watch Iron Eagle *prepping for shitstorm of neg rep* on the basis that it's hilarious as shit... Sooo many Regean-era 80s-isms for one movie...
Unnamed middle-eastern/North African country, Token Black guy friend, Fatass General w/ Texan accent spewing weird metaphors ("they got my tit in a wringer"), even the final showdown between the young hero and the villainous arab Colonel (with appropriate intros for both, just so they get to know eachother)... Me and my buds watch it for it's riff-ability factor... definitely needs a Rifftrack of its own...

It's one of those movies you watch strictly on the basis of how bad it was...
kinda like this one:

I officially DO NOT watch "Batman & Robin" on the basis of how crappy it is, that is too painful.

"Iron Eagle" was my favorite show when I was like 7, you can't kick old habits, so even to this day..yes...it is still tolerable to watch...cough cough and own.

Why on earth would you want to tour a squadron? I promise you there's nothing to see but dry erase boards and flat panel televisions stolen from the Chair Force. If you want my opinion, just drive down to the base and sit in the viewing area just outside the fence on 32L and watch planes land, or better yet, have someone let you know when 122/125 are going to be practicing their respective Hornet Demo's and come sit and watch them. Or, just look up, we've been crossing Clovis at or below 14K pretty regularly lately.

SIMS...when I was there, I left in 07, there were certain restrictions in place. How did you meet them?

Shop at the NEX...as a civilian? How so?
I just finished up working access control at the lemoore sim building, so your a couple months late for me to help you... However the visitor request form to fill out to take a tour of the sim building was a pretty simple one (if your walking the halways you see them intermittantly along the walls) however I don't think anyone filled one of those out... it seemed to me that every reserve weekend LT Awesome Dad would show up with twelve 5th graders and would get them into the tofts or the LCT. The policy was that if he was on the list then we issued him a badge and the kiddos got an escort required badge, and the sim operators made sure there was no classified data on the hop.

That is pretty cool for LT "Dad" to take a bunch of ankle biters to the sim.... My Dad did the same for me and a few other cub scouts back in 1985..... it was only a
T-2 sim though....not nearly as cool as the new sims, but still a great time.
