NAS Lemoore visit request

Anyone stationed at Lemoore. I haven't been there in ages and was wondering if anyone on here is based there. Just curious if there was anyway to come as see a squadron and talk to some of the pilots.

yeah as a civilian, just wanted to see a squadron. I've been before with a neighbor who was stationed there, I was a kid then, but I really didn't get to see the squadrons. I got to fly in the sims and shop at the NEX and see a plane. Was just curious if it was a possibility. I wanted to see how a squadron worked and talk to some of the pilots (and NFOS if in the squadron). Just to sort of get a picture of what to expect when I am hopefully there

I wouldn't advise sporting that patch if you expect to tour a Hornet "Nest"

Well, you can pretty much get a picture of what it's like on here.

Yeah good advise. The tomcat in my opinion was the best plane the navy had(or US military for that matter). Wanted to fly her my whole life and they retire her when I am within 2 years of signing up, just sucked. The patch says everything, so now I want the f model of the hornet. So I thought I would see if it was possible to check out the f models and just meet some really neat people.

SIMS...when I was there, I left in 07, there were certain restrictions in place. How did you meet them?

As middies they signed us in at the desk and we surrendered our DoD cards. Not sure how a civilian would get in....maybe w/ a "guide" or something

Honestly, I would not imagine you will get a whole lot out of going in and hanging out. During the day most RR's that I saw were pretty busy and/or empty and you would probably feel like you were in the way. If you can get hooked up w/ a PAO type, they might be able to arrange a more meaningful agenda for you. I'd try VFA-122 or VFA-125 and see what they can do. You won't go flying, but maybe they could let you sit in a jet on the ramp/hanger or something. You can also visit the biggest shanty of a Subway in the western world if you so desire....

In all seriousness, as a civvie, you'd need someone to sponsor your visit and MIDNJAC's got the right idea about getting in touch with a PAO, although they usually cater to journalists/photogs and the like, not just fanboys...

My neighbor growing up was a captain and incharge of maintence or something i really don't remember exactly. But he knew the people that ran the sims and got us in, flew for two minutes (I also shot my enemy down :icon_smil). He also took us to the NEX and I bought some stuff. But yeah fresno really does suck. I live in clovis which is next to fresno but this whole area sucks, can't wait to get, but knowing my luck if I get what I want I will get lemoore :icon_tong. But I'll look into those squadrons and see what I can do.

um no, that movie was pretty gay, and more unrealistic than top gun. I was actually flying against another person, not a pilot, but I was also like 14. Now I have my pilot's license but can't do ACM for real until they let me (hopefully)
