Lets try to keep this one clean.....

Just bought it today at a gunshow. Springfield XD-40. Got it for $525 after all was said and done. The dealer even threw in a thousand rounds of Federal Ammo cause I was military. Get to pick it up in 8 days.

Good deal with the ammo! I've never played with an XD, how is it?

Do you have to wait 8 days because there is a waiting period on that? When I bought my Beretta Model 96 and my Glock Model 22 I got to walk right out of the store with them that night. I got them at two different stores and at each one they just made a call to the FBI and I got cleared to take them home. But I also don’t have to register my firearms where I leave either.

It sits in your hand really nice, like a 1911. The trigger pull is great... haven't shot it yet, but everything says it is accurate and reliable.

MD has an 8 day waiting period... we have a background check done through state police on pistols. Long arms are take home same day... they do that through the FBI.

It depends on two things. The state (and its associated gun laws) that the weapon is being purchased in, and in some cases the state in which you are a resident (drivers lisc) of.

If you are active duty military with current orders of a permanent type, the second part of what I said above becomes null and void.

For instance, in Colorado, you can walk in buy the gun and walk out with it (as long as u clear the background check). However in FL I beleive I had to wait 5 days.

Easiest way to get around that? Get a state ID. That's how I do it here in Mississippi. It's perfectly legal. I tend to give them my military ID too, just for backup.

3 day waiting period on handguns in Florida, UNLESS you hold a Concealed Carry License, then the waiting period is void.

You know, looking at that pistol, I'm surprised Glock didn't sue them. Maybe they have a licensing going. It's just way too similar.

It does have some similar traits..... it is really a cross between a 1911 and a Glock 17/22.

Oh, www.natchezss.com usually has great deals on CCI Blazer ammo. I got some .40S&W and 9mm ammo there CHEAP.

Well, I got 1000 of Federal 180gr right now... It'll be a long time until that is out. I still plan on shooting my P22 most of the time...

The only thing that troubles me, is that I can't find any Hi-Cap mags for the XD. If anyone has any idea where I could, let me know please.

1000 rounds doesn't last long with me... :)

The XD was made post-ban. It never had any pre-ban magazines. That being said, you should find some LEO-Only magazines, if they were manufactured that is. If not, then you have to wait for Springfield to produce them, which will require a little re-tooling. Check around the internet. I suggest going to www.thehighroad.org and asking around.

Haha, my AIM name is from WAY back. Can we say Freshman year of High School? It's just WAY too much of a pain to change it when about 100 people have it.
