So do you recommend buying both Barron's and Arco's Military Flight Aptitude Test books? I have the pdf version of Arco's 6th edition of Military Flight Aptitude Tests, but I found that there is a 7th edition, that was published May 2009. Which edition did you use?

I recommend both books. Barron's is good in covering the math and mechanical sections. The Arco is the best overall. I used both the 6th and 7th editions. I also used the Arco Officer Candidates book. All the Arco editions are very similar and all will help prepare you for the ASTB. I recommend getting as many as possible. It is very useful having three different practice test where the questions aren’t the exact same. Make sure you time yourself when you take the practice test. Hope this helps.

Preparing for the ASTB

Hello citadel1289;

I am preparing for the ASTB, and I would like to ask you if the following books are the correct choice for studying:

Barron's Military Flight Book
Arco Military Flight Book (both 6th and 7th edition)
Arco Officer Candidate Book
FAA Handbook

I could not locate the Principles of Aerodynamics nor atrickpay's study guide.

Please offer any other suggestions or any information I may have over-looked (from viewing your posting)

The principles of aerodynamics are covered thoroughly in the FAA manual. Everything on the aviation section is covered in the FAA manual. I attached the links for the atrickpay’s study guide and the Marine gouge. Both are very good additions to the resources you already have. Take your time studying and use all the resources available. If you do those two things I am sure you will do very well. Hope this helps.

wegl,

Thanks for the gouge man.. good write up. Just wondering did you use strictly the ASTB practice tests while studying or did you use the math knowledge/reasoning sections from the AFOQT as well?

One of the best gouges I've seen yet. Appreciate the links! Congrats on the scores and making it to Pensacola!

I know that this post is old, but it seems that the links to the Marine Gouge have been deactivated or the information has moved. Is there anyway someone can post updated links?

WOW...This gouge is the best. Used it primarily and just go back with my scores:
OAR:69
AQR:9
PFAR:9
FOFAR:9

Thanks a LOT!!!
