There is a DoD directive on rules and regulations on motorcycle safety and it is standardized throughout all bases. It requires you to wear helmet, boots, gloves, durable pants (jeans are approved), leather jacket and reflective vest. You must also have taken a DoD sponsered safety course. At one time, DoD also forced motorcylcist to attach orange flags on the white poles for added visibility. Some one got smart and removed that point. If you are a US service member on active duty, these regulations will be adhered to on and OFF base. If you have an accident off base and you were found wearing just shorts and a tank top and tennis shoes and not the required safety gear then you can be found "not in the line of duty." What that means is that the US goverment is not responsible for your medical treatment or future complications from those injuries. SF, Frumby
