Before you do anything, you use METT-T to analyze the enemy. The idea being you can't have a Mission until METT-T has been done at least in the commander's head (you can't have a mission with a IOT statement without at least speculating on the enemy's mission).

SALUTE, DRAWD and EMPCOA (this stuff is giving me goosebumps) are typical subparagraphs in the Enemy section of your SITUATION in SMEAC

As stated, METT-T is flows out of instructors' mouths @ TBS like spent brass on the range (nice simile) every time a new frag-o or decision needs to be made in the field.
