Yeah, what is all this crazy talk about switching to helos? Can you imagine flying around at 100 kts all day? Jesus Christ!Grant said:Why? I'd stick with whatever you get selected for. If you want helos, go helos to begin with.

Just so you know, I used to crew 60s at HSL-44, so I can relate. Having experienced helos, P-3s and Prowlers, I'm just trying to impart a little light hearted perspective. I wouldn't trade my diverse background for anything, but I'm happy where I ended up.gatordev said:To help this thread degenerate further, I thought I'd just say... Brett, you're absolutely right. I mean sheesh. Just this morning, I had to fly over to Molokai and fly through some jungle valleys (as seen in Jurassic Park III). Then I was forced to look at waterfalls. I was inconvenienced by a tour guide helo who was there, as well, complaining about how bumby it was for him.
The horror....
I know all those guys! Zanger was my DIVO for a while. He was a great guy, what a screwball. I know Brazeal too. If you see any of those guys, ask them if they remember AO1 Stevenson from 44. I left that squadron and went to OCS from there, but there are old LAMPS guys crawing around all over the place up at Whidbey. Anyway, good times.gatordev said:Yeah, you were there at the same timeframe then, I'm guessing. My OIC is Gebo and for a while we had a SWTI here who was Zanger. My lead AT on cruise and now my LPO was from -44 also, but he may shown up after you left. I think he (Brazeal) came from 48 or 40 first.
I was actually there in August shore basing while our ship was doing some shoe thing. It was nice to have connections so we could get our neverending list of parts.
