Nice perks indeed, but it doesn't even begin to offset the crappy lifestyle of being on the road ALL the time. Not to mention the full submersion of becoming a money grubbing politician vice a warfighter (minus the Combatant Commanders like Petraeus) would blow. Unless that is, you are really into that D.C. bullshit.:sleep_125

Goes with the territory. It's lonely at the top and a lot of other things....

I don't think you're being fair in describing the senior leaders in DC as "money grubbing" anything. Do they have to deal with politics? Heck yes! Our Chain of Command is set up to have political appointees running each of the Service departments reporting to an elected politician so they deal with the "political" process every day including interchanges with the members of Congress and their staffs. It's unavoidable for the Service Chiefs and top flag and general officers as well as the Combatant Commanders who are also called to DC to interface with the Commander in Chief as well as the Congress. I wouldn't call any of them "money-grubbing" though.

So you'd rather see football stars and maybe Wayne Newton?

Why do guys that shouldn't .... insist on wearing tight, Euro-trash-inspired bicycle spandex togs ... ??

Wouldn't a 'smart' sweatshirt/t-shirt/pair of 'normal' shorts do just as well ... ??? :)

But then there's the option to enjoy the "eyeball liberty" during a short stint at sea...
