I got a call from the AMDO Board

I got a call this morning from the AMDO (aviation maintenance duty officer) board representative. he was a LCDR. He pretty much did a little phone interview thing with me and asked alot of questions. He told me that they were interested in my application and said that the board will convene on this Friday. The AMDO guys usually call applicants but other fields don't because of the sheer number of applicants. Intel calls I think. anyway I am really encouraged by this and hope to get selected. I really want AMDO or SWO but, I'll take any chance for a comission. (with the exception of PAO (public affairs officer). btw AMDO is my first choice. and SWO is second followed by Supply. Man I'm real nervous now considering, that I know when the board convenes. I should know by friday afternoon or monday morning.

what kinds of questions did he ask you? Were they more about yourself, your experience, your interest in the navy, your qualifications, or all?

he asked me, well actually he went over my quals and asked me if they were correct, you know spelling, dates, GPA, and that sort of thing. AMDO is a real small community so selection is kinda competitive. Man I was asleep when he called (it was like 11:00 in the morning[8D]) anyway he asked me if he would be disappointed if I was not selected and would I accept another job. I think what he was asking was "Do you want to be a AMDO or a Officer first?" I told him that I really wanted AMDO but would take any choice. He also asked me about my wife (who is active duty AK2) and asked if I had discussed being seperated. I'm glad I didn't answer the phone rude. I sometimes get rude cause alot of telemarketers call me. I had to tell him about my prior Navy experience and school and all that. he was nice and said that when they convene the board he has to know that answers to questions about me to help me get selected.

thanks sonny. any word on your app? I hope you get in man. I don't know squat about getting into NFO but you look like you have a sure shot at Supply. Supply O is cool too. you can get SWO (Supply Surface Warfare Qual'd) and get a Supply SWO pin. (it looks cool) and also a Air Warfare Pin too. But I do hope you get your 1st choice man. good luck.

Hmm what if he was a Spy? maybe he was a Red China spy hoping to discover the top secret secret's that prior Navy AD's know. lol

Gosh I wish there was a way to be a Navy Spy. That would be some cool ass shit I guess you would go out on liberty and not have a duty day just walk around and collect intel. Or would it work like that in the NAvy if we had spies? Well anyway..... nothing to say.

I have the original TMNT and arcade game for nintendo. pissed me off-I could never beat the damn games. Anyway, aviation applicants usually receive word back from the board sooner than others (at least that's what the recruiter says). So I should hear something pretty soon.

that's true. I've heard that also. Supply boards also take some time. I should hear the news of the Friday board by monday or tuesday. waiting sucks.
