I am heading down to Corpus for primary in two weeks (wknd of May 14) and am looking for a place to live. Looks like I will have 0 time off from API to go find a place there, too...

Anyone got some good gouge on where to go down there? I saw the other thread in this topic about a rental house, but that was posted a few weeks ago and I want to know what else might be out there.

Thanks-

There's plenty of places to live. A lot of people like to live out on the island, but the drive seemed too much for me. ...Especially if you wake up late and have to book it to work. I've heard some horror stories from friends about them not getting their security deposit back when they left ON ORDERS, so be sure you read the lease. Roomates are always good to help split the bills, too.

You could always live in the BOQ, too, but then you would be either a geo-batchelor or very, very gay.

The drive from the island is no worse than anywhere else in town. It takes me 10 minutes from my driveway to the squadron parking lot. I'd def suggest looking into places on the island. Ask around in your class in API to see if anyone else coming here needs a roomie, thats what I did. Don't stress too much about it, you'll be able to find a place for sure.

I lived at "The Shores"
It's a little bit further down Ennis Joslin than Baypoint, was dirt cheap with the military discount (1-1 was $425), and was a pretty decent place (covered parking, pool, hottub, close to base, no crime that I saw)

I had a couple of buddies that got here before me, decided on Baypoint....and regreted it. The place is 'nice' as far as general appereance....and the location is nice. The mgmt has gotten used to O's living there since it is so close to base...and treat them like sh!t. The office staff is incompetent and rude.....try their hardest to get out of fixing anything, charge tenants for stupid things (your motorcycle was chained to a carport...not taking up a space...yet here is a fine for violating our policy.) and various other mickey mouse sh!t that proceeded to piss my friends off royaly. Good luck getting you deposit back. But as with anything YMMV

I haven't heard anything bad about Harbor Landing. The only place I've heard bad stuff about is Baypoint, as Pcola already mentioned.

Do you know anything about Harbour Landing?

I've got several friends who live in Harbor Landing and they've never complained about it. Its a pretty nice complex, I've been there a few times, right on SPID.

Leaving at the end of May ... 15 minutes to the squadron, 3br, 2ba, $1050/mo.

Tons of other places on this street as well (Cruiser St).

Are the houses on Crusier St. managed by the same company? That is really where we would like to live. We are moving out there the middle of June.
