uh, I said the Marines are going to stop flying the F-18's completely. The Super Hornet is an F-18, just an upgraded model.

The last I heard was that the Harriers were all going to be replaced with F-35B's. The Marines are going to stop flying the F-18's completely. All A, B, C, and D variants still in use and not replaced by 35's will be replaced by the E and F "Super Hornets."

I'm curious, how does one like yourself have such detailed information? I've always wondered how the non-aviators, non-military types always have such good information :)

Bunky,

Maybe we should ask this fountain of knowledge when the C-2B will arrive.

That, and what PerDiem rates are going up to.

Perhaps but I think these guys only have internal detailed knowledge of the fighter corps. Regardless, I'll never fly COD's or get per diem again :( Actually, the first I don't care but the second, I'll miss.

Don't know where the buzz came from, but a couple of guys who just selected E2C2 (not you KSU) are asking me if we will cruise in C-2Bs (like I have any better idea, since I'm new to the community too).

Mets, you know when it is coming :D

Thanks for the clarification. I'd hate for people to see me as one that would ask YOU when the Bs are coming out. :) Anyways...at least if we fly only the old model than when we get out and get that good paying Citation X job, we'll enjoy the new avionics. It'll be like a kid in a candy store.

This is even more wrong than the first post.

Not to mention you contradict yourself... with more wrong information.

I'm not sure why I'm bothering with this, but the current plan/pipe-dream is to replace one Harrier squadron, go through all the Hornet squadrons, then come back to the Harriers. The Harriers, on average, are newer airframes with more capable weapons systems. The IOC plan (or rather rumors about the plan) seems to change all the time, so if I were you, I wouldn't go plotting my how-to-be-a-JSF-CO career path just yet.

For starters I was just summarizing what was on Wikipedia, from these articles.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-18
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F/A-18E/F_Super_Hornet
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-35
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AV-8_Harrier_II

No I don't know what squadron is going to be replaced first, sorry, I just summarized the general plan from what gets reported to us "non-military" people in the news by, you know, the Admiralty, when they do things like testify before Congress.

And the Super Hornet is an upgraded F-18, how is that contradictory?
