I heard that too. I have completed MEPS on Dec7, 2015 after 3 visits within 10 daysI was told it's good for 1 year.
 . I think, I don't have to do it again as long as I submit my  DCO paperwork before Dec 6, 2016. Any thoughts @NavyOffRec ?

Usually, the first drill is after two months of commissioning( Aug 16). I think, on the first/second drill, the issue of fitness test comes. DCOIC can take upto 8-12 months, depending on availability. That's what I heard .
