Just caught your reference about 2 nukes going EDO. I guarantee that my selection had nothing to do with being a nuke. There are two flavors of Shipyard ED's, nuke and non-nuke. The way the STA-21 SWO/ED pipeline is set up i can NEVER be a nuclear EDO, so I'm pretty sure my selection was because of my proven leadership, academic ability, and the fact that I've been an alternate twice and stayed committed to becoming an EDO.
I understand that you're frustrated with the process but I think you would be selling yourself short if you stop applying. There is always something you can improve, whether it's a few more college classes/CLEPS or working to get the best Nomination Review Board possible. That was my main detractor the past two years so I took my fate in my own hands and met with the senior EDO's in my area and got it done with absolutely 0 involvement from my command. Talk to Officers at your command; my O-4 had previously worked with an EDO Captain and put me in touch with him. I scheduled a one hour meeting with him and then he set me up with an O-7, another O-6, and an O-5 for my EDO board.
