He was my company 1st Sgt when I was at Marine Barracks 8th and I. We used to make fun of his ridiculous West VA accent. He once bragged that he had his wife on a prepaid phone card because she made too many long distance phone calls! What a guy! You think we was hard core, the 1st Sgt he took over for did 2 tours in Nam, had been to Ranger school, and routinely ran 300 PFT even though he was about 300 years old!
