FLRAA and FARA update

Designation MV-75? M for multimission and 75 commemorating the 1775 founding of the Army. The number after F-23 is F-35, the number after F-35 is F-47, the number after B-2 is B-21 and everybody gets an M. The DoD system is seriously broken... pick a number -- any number.

I hope they give it an American Indian name once fielded. Both Comanche and Arapaho are free.
the options list has been presented to the General Officer Steering Committee, it just hasn’t been final selected yet. That date comes later This year.

First series of aircraft will literally just be M model 60s on the inside. All the avionics are a couple lots deep in the development cycle, and so far the thing is a disaster. I give it a 30% chance at survival at this point as the Army realizes that just repeatedly chanting “further! Faster!” isnt a sound way to run an aircraft procurement. Also of note, aviation as a branch has never successfully completed an aircraft procurement. Apache was the last one and it was done under cavalry branch.

All the money to DARK EAGLE seems to be the plan right now.

My feed is full of "first production MV-75 to be delivered to Army in 2026 - 6 years early..."

Any truth to this?

Yes, but not for good reasons.

A lot of capability is being left off to accelerate to a concept demonstrator/trainer. Idea being get tails fast so we can make it harder to cancel and develop/mature later.

How many grunts can fit in a Dark Eagle? Will hypersonic speeds make their faces look funny?

Take off in Frankfurt and land in Moscow 5 minutes later…
