NROTC is 5 years now.Just a clarification...your initial service obligation isn't paused, it's still going. When you wing, you incur an additional service obligation.
Initial: 8 years, 4 (or 5 for Academy) Active Duty, 4 (3) IRR.
Additional: 8 years from winging.
