Also if you search "Bose A20 headset" you get some interesting results - including qualification test reports for a number of airframes. Including P-8 mission workload studies with the A20.

@sevenhelmet I don't believe passive aviation headsets are being used anywhere in the .mil world. Maybe Army.
Ok. I figured if the USAF zigs, the USN will zag. Because reasons.

We also used DC headsets when I was a TPS student in 2014- the only time I flew with a headset on active duty. It’s very possible they’ve been replaced. @IKE ?

Try searching dtic.mil for "noise cancelling aviation"

Did you find the article?

As has been mentioned before, ANR technology isn't great at surviving in the EM world around a boat. I know you're specifically referencing headsets, but looking at the bigger picture, any COTS solution for hearing protection is probably going to need additional shielding to be successful in that environment.

Steel toe boots are required when aboard ship or in ejection seat aircraft.

I'm loving my Rocky S2Vs since I'm permanently on shore tours.

I recently went with Reebok Sublite boots for flying at work. FOD-free sole, very lightweight, and still has a protected toe (no idea if USN would approve, because I don't care anymore). Sizes the same as my old issue Bellevilles, which finally fell apart after over a decade of service.

One of the many epiphanies at being in AF Land the last 6 years - steel toes are a joke. AF aircrew footwear standards are incredibly flexible and geared to mission accomplishment and comfort regardless of aircraft type. I personally believe NAVAIR insistence on steel loes is silly. I have a Reservist colleague, F-22 guy who wore Oakley boots.

But the cool SAR dudes on the boat in the pic are clearly not wearing steel toe boots . . .
