Granted this may have been rude but I'm asking myself what laws or FAR's were broken? Why were the cops involved?

I would assume the reason the cops were called was the perpetual drunk NWA pilot. If I saw a pilot acting in the same manner I would think he's either going through a nervous break down, is drunk or is on crack. From what I read it appears as if he really getting out of hand. The odd thing is that he was not given a breathalyser. I bet that pilot is going to have a nice talk with the Chief Pilot soon. A bet a union rep is getting ready for a good fight.

The pilot obviously had issues, major issues I'd say. This is an ORM down if I've ever seen one. Military pilots need to compartmentalize because we need to assume great risk to accomplish our missions (if you’re saving lives or taking lives that is). Unless the flight was critical, I doubt I’d allow a pilot like that to fly with me.

They made the right call. It is understandable that the police were involved. Commercial aviation should assume as little risk as possible. Though no FAR's were broken (that I know of), he still should have been removed. While it may cost them a few bucks to cancel a flight, or in this case remove an emotionally unstable pilot, it's far better than risking what could happen.

If this article is accurate, the pilot was out of line.

I'd be more worried as a passenger if i heard him dropping a multitude of f-bombs during the flight.

It's the first memory item of every EP, right?

I would smack the #$%^ out of a passenger who said that...

Did you think for a long time about that one?;) :D

Its one of my favorite quotes, so no it didn't take too much time. Now of course I would have never said that to the pilot if I happened to be one of the passengers.

Dude, If I got cancelled everytime I used the F-bomb, I would have ZERO hours.

Dropping the F-bomb is just what brought the problem to light. Think of it like this. You just finished preflight and the pilot or your co-pilot is on the phone yelling. Obviously upset and cursing. Then they just get off the phone and start strapping in. Would you want to fly with him? The issue here is external factors. Dropping the F-bomb because your take off time got slid right or your bird is not ready is different then being emotionally upset about something then going flying. I wouldn't have called the cops on that guy but I sure would have gotten off that flight.

Passengers wouldn't like it over here.. We drop f-bombs, read porn, and have highly explict conversations... Just like it was when I was in the Navy? I hope you all haven't changed over that quick! It's only been a few years? :( And as for having a very colorful conversation on the cell phone, I for one have never done that, as I am sure none of you have???
