I get tired of all the stupid sh!t that comes from Texas, and that includes the idea that this one state is somehow superior to all others as well as superior to the union itself. :icon_rage

Texas is awesome and you are jealous.

Flying the flag as high as the Union flag is not stating that it is supperior to the Union. It is saying it is equal to the Union.

Finally, Texas is a State, even though it is awesome, it is subordinate to the Union and thus, it should be flown lower than the Union flag.

What exactly is there to be proud of in Texas? I've been there several times, and everywhere that I visited wasn't anything special.

Seriously people, Texas is not great. Having an unwarranted amount of pride in your state is pretty gay.
 
Texas fought for its independence and won it. The story of the Alamo is reminiscent of the 300 Spartans. There is no state income tax. That is only some of the stuff to be proud of.

Well I don't know about you, but I try to take pride in everything I do. To each his own. I take it you are not from Tx, huh?
 
Parts of Texas are hot, arid, miserable places to live. How do you get people excited about living there? Keep telling them how great they got it: "Hey, your lucky to be living in this place. You're a Texan!!! Be thankful that you came from the place that gave you the Alamo, Sam Houston, pointy boots with high heels, etc." Fill their heads with info about Texas dividing up into 5 separate states, flag height, and that everyone else wants to be like them.

The schools teach how "great" the state is and the kids get indoctrinated from an early age. They then march forth to tell everyone they meet where they are from (within 3 mins of meeting them), and how proud they are of it.

The Marines do this on a smaller scale ("You are lucky to be living in this lean to and taking a leak on a palm tree every morning, 'cuz you are a Marine...").:D

That being said, I've got some pretty great friends from Texas, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Corpus Christi. :)

I'm curious though, when does the brainwashing begin? Is it something that was introduced to you as small children by your parents, or what? :confused:

Honestly, with me, it's just fun to say sometimes. I get to talking about something, and it always comes out with each other talking about where we are from. Most of the time we are talking football, but we start when we are young. You are right, we are stuffed with Texas history as soon as we can identify a word in a book. Can't help but to be proud the rest of your life, lol.
 
Sorry I started the treadjack. While I have enjoyed the Texas bashing, I can't stand to listen to any more Texans. Fly your flags proudly and properly. Nothing more to see here. Move along citizen.
