First flight of the P-8A Poseidon and all things related to transition

At least we know who our new 3Ps are going to be exactly. I wonder if they're selecting P-8 directly out of VT-10 at the same time?

From what I'm hearing from the classes ahead of me/recent primary grads, the trend is still 1-2 P-3 slots per class. Nobody I know has heard anything about when the official P-8 selections will start.
 
BZB ..it's not my characterization of this hybrid 737. It was the Facebook site from which the post was taken. Thought I should acknowledge and give attribution to it's source. As for the Hornet and it's versions, you will get no argument from me as to which is the current "God of the Sea".

Interesting. The word we've gotten is that there will be a handful of CAT-Is starting in the syllabus while we're in the CAT-II syllabus and they're due to check into our squadron early 2013. No idea when those CAT-Is are due to check into VP-30 though or even how long their syllabus is.

So you're expecting winged P-8 NFOs to check in early 2013? I don't know much about the P-3/P-8 syllabus, but for the timing to work with training at VP-30, would that mean that sometime this fall we should expect to start selecting P-8s?
 
That's the word we got. In terms of what that means for people in primary now, your guess is as good as mine. I have no idea how/when they're going to do selections for it; all I know is we're supposed to get our new guys when we're done with our CAT-II syllabus.
 
Giant Killer told us there was a P-8 working in W-72 the other day...so apparently they really are out there somewhere.
 
Same thing can be said for all of the MH-60S sims...even the experienced pilots have a hard time landing it. No "seat of the ass" or visual cues to the side, which is a big deal in helos.

The 60S sims are difficult to auto well, since they aren't modeled correctly (at least the non-motion ones) but they land just fine.

NAS Jax has two P-8's on the flight line right now. They are expecting a third shortly.
I know there is a P-8 up in Pax that occasionally comes down to Jax to do some training.

There's at least 4 or 5 at VX-1. They're always clobbering our working areas offshore. :)
