Feb-March 2016 Rolling SWO Board Thread

Yeah the lower selection rate was a disappointment for everyone. I believe the reason given was that the board was held near of FY 2015. Also, some have speculated that the recent rise of NPQ Pilot selectees being designated to SWO have filled prematurely filled the billets available. Might be a combination of these two factors.

for recruiting purposes it was right about the middle of when they select people, usually the board in April is the end of FY selections (FY 16 in this case)

Thanks for sharing. So the lower SWO selection was not due to FY16? I believe that was the explanation recruiters gave. Is this a sign for a new trend for lower selections for SWO?

that wasn't a bad selection rate, there are always anomalies where you have high rates or low rates but, people can make excuses for each time of the year, Dec they can say it is because the hard goals aren't out, March they can say because they have filled the FY selections, etc.....

My recruiter said he thinks the board met this week. Any idea if that's true or not?

It's been put out by several sources, including NRC themselves that the board is in fact meeting in April. But I guess that's none of my business...

First off I would like to thank everyone for posting the updates regarding the board dates, it definitely helps keep anxiety at bay. Hopefully my file will be going to this board, and I am looking forward to getting to know people suring the process and hopefuly if I get selected at OCS.

My stats are as follows
OAR: 53
GPA: 3.18
Army Enlisted - healthcare specialist/linguist.
Current Command: SOCOM
5 DLPTS: 2+/3 or better.
LOR: Two O5s, three O3 - all from SOF community.

I don't really know if this will look competitive, but I sure hope it does. Being a SWO is definitely something I see myself doing, and expanding my skill set from that point on, as unrestricted duty officer.

Couldn't agree more. This site in general has been a huge help in obtaining information.

Disclaimer: I totally understand that questions like this get old, but I have exhausted the knowledge of my CCC and OCS coordinator. I also have nothing else to worry about. I just wanted to hear from the recruiter types, if they are willing. Does the board at the end of the fiscal year usually see a significant drop in acceptance rate? Do you think the rate is likely to drop from 34% ish. I know all you can do is speculate, but I just asked the navy for a huge raise and it's all I think about.

Search is your friend as this has been asked and answered many times, so many times and that will provide a more involved answer, but the short of it is when the board is has little bearing if any on the selection numbers.

Just curious why you're going the SWO route and not

Where did you get the 34%? The last board was around 50-55% if I can recall. To add to what @NavyOffRec said, the answer is more difficult to explain. This April board will likely be taking both FY16 and 17 accessions so I wouldn't worry about the whole "end of FY" jitters.
