Pres Bush couldn't get over the whole "nucular" thing...does that mean he hated Navy nukes?

Uh... I've heard people IN THE FIELD unable to say nuclear.... I think that should absolutely be a REQUIREMENT to pass power school/get a degree in nuclear engineering. If you can't say nuclear, you shouldn't be an authority in the community.

Five minutes of my life that I won't get back. I forgot how much I hate Jon Stewart.

No, not because he makes fun of Republicans. He just annoys the shit outta me.

The fact of the matter is that Pres Bush had many times more gaffes than Obama ever will. As Flash said, I guess you gotta find something to hit the current guy on.

Yes, but as Obama so often repeats, he's only been in the office for 1 year while "the previous administration" had 8. And as the dems so often repeat, "Give him more time", I'm sure the gaffes will equate.

With the well so full from the previous occupant of the White House I guess you gotta hit the current guy on his pronunciation somehow........

Pretty easy for me to chalk Bush's version of "nuclear" up to his regional Texas dialect. You can't do that with the mispronunciation of corpsman.

FWIW my Mom and her side of the family are from Texas and I grew up in Chicago so have a pretty good grasp on both.

Did great presidential orators who actually believed what they were saying die with REAGAN? I loathe all politicians, almost equally.

I made it a point to go flight plan while on deck to avoid "them", and to shake the DC-9 yoke with the auto pilot on to keep the fastened seatbelt light handily illuminated to keep the turd-burglars in the back while in flight. Some congresswoman from the NE (hauling the Congressional BLACK Caucus) came up to tell me what a tradgedy Katrina was... whining... I told her "you don't have to tell me, I was in it with a 7.5 month pregnant wife baking twins"... wanted to continue with the story of people pulling together and actually getting some shit done vice holding out our hands... but figured it would be obtuse and fall on deaf and dumb ears.

At least this talking head numbnut was consistent in his ineptitude, it is still unexcusable, I think he needs to issue an official presidential apology to the entire Navy and Marine Corps team and any other organization with the word Corps in it..

Actually, no he didn't. The difference is that the press made a much bigger deal about Pres Bush's errors than they have about Pres Obama's.

I have to admit my disappointment in POTUS' lack of understanding of the proper pronouncement of those who serve him.

For those of you who chose to bash President Bush....you won, your guy is in office. Let it go.

Jimmy Carter couldn't pronounce "nuclear", either. I don't begrudge POTUS' inability to understand the pronunciation of naval terminology so much as his apparent arrogance of knowing how we should be governed - even when the clear majority of us Americans disagree w/ him over healthcare reform. cap 'n trade & energy exploration, etc. He wants a european-style democratic-socialist America, and in the national elections of 2012, I believe the American people will vote him out of office.

I don't remember ever hearing him pronounce it, but it is surprising since he was a Nuke himself.

Fixed it for you.

Nope, he wants to debate actual issues; instead he is dealing with the stonewalling of the Republicans in Congress on anything pushed through by the Dems, as well as the hysterical right anxious to jump over anything he says or does as an example of how he hates America, democracy, white people, the military, small business, etc., etc. And I said on here when he first threw his hat in the ring that he would be the next Prez (even said I would donate money if I was wrong); well now I predict that he will win handily in 2012. Sure, it is a long ways away, but if he isn't re-elected I'll throw $50 bucks towards the Web-San for this site. If anyone disagrees, please put your $50 toward the site when he coasts to victory for his second term.:)

The Republicans are stonewalling? Actually, it's the Democrats who are refusing to listen to Republican proposals. And the Democrats had the votes to get the bills passed without the Republicans. So apparently they weren't such great bills after all.

The Republicans made the political decision to try and defeat the bill; it may work out well for them, but they have shown no interest in providing any input as requested repeatedly by the Dem leadership. As for the number of votes; for some reason the Dems (in the Senate) are terrified of having to make the Republicans filibuster. Not sure why, but there it is.
