Nice!

I own a solid old '87 Volvo 240. I'd like to get a '93 850 with all the right options, preferably stick.

I've heard from multiple Volvo shops that any Volvo made after '93 just isn't a real Volvo... cheaply built, less reliable, more expensive to repair, etc.

Still though... I'd like to get my hands on one of those all new S40s... if only they came with a standard transmission!! Aarrrgh.

The new S-40's will come with a standard this fall, I am trying to convince my girlfriend to get one. I own a S60R, 300hp is not that bad :D .

Get a bike (trust me there is no better chick magnet than a nice racing bike), some states don't require insurance. Keep your old car for the rainy days and continue saving until you break the $30K+ range and afford something really nice. Just my two cents :D

Well... I went looking at cars on saturday... and if I save my pennys and continue to drive the hooptie until I'm done college next year... after OCS I can afford to get a Corvette <by putting about 30 down on it>. That is what I'll do, as long as the hooptie continues to run.

Its not only about the performance... honestly... when can you actually take a vette up to the 160mph mark? It is about having the Vette! It is just the greatest car that ever was! It is the All-American car! But maybe I am biased?

So no $hit there I was

No, the '69 ZL-1 was the all American muscle car. Or the GTO or Chevelle 396, etc. :D If I wanted to have a modern muscle car, it would probably be a 96 Viper. And Ive had my car up to 140 before I decided I should slow down. For that money the interior had better be the most awesome thing ever also. Just not my kind of thing, but everyone has different opinions.

I heard somewhere that it costs about $6500 or so to make a Corvette and they turn it around for $50k.

I dont know about that.... The engine alone should cost that much... or even more. The invoice of a Vette is about 7grand lower than MSRP. You can work some good deals.

yeah could be...just saying something I heard from someone. I also heard that this is the last time they're redesigning them (I think its 6th G right now). Do you know anyhting about that?? Are they going to stop making them eventually??

Chevy will not stop making vettes in the forseable future... I can't think of a car that has been produced longer. The Corvette really sybolizes chevy... and they have no trouble selling.

Just to jump on the bandwagon, the C5 Corvette, especially in Z06 form, is just an awesome car. I don't have one so I can't comment on its performance that I haven't read in the magazines but I've seen some impressive 1/4 mile times from Z06 owners on corvette forums. How about high 11's/low 12's at around 117-118 bone stock. Obviously the track, weather, and driver played a huge part in that performance but a few people have done it. The new C6 Vette in your sig should at least come close to that performance with the LS6 and 400hp stock. The new Z06 is rumored to be 500hp. That's American muscle baby. I would own one but I do need a back seat for the daughter so I've got one of those slow 03 Ford Cobra's with a pulley swap ;)

I can only own Jeeps apparently, I've had 9 since I turned 16 (20 now). I just like the way the look, they run like crap, so you always have something to complain about, and something to do. They hold their value really well, plus there is tons of ad ons.

They run like crap... yet they hold their value really well! If that doesn't make sense....

I test drove a Wrangler the other day... I just wasn't impressed. Once I got past the "This is a jeep!" euphoria, it is a slow, gas guzzling, low performance vehicle.

And there aren't many mountains inside the DC Beltway.
