Bubblehead Admirals can now wear flight suits?

Love the beard. Every other NATO country permits facial hair and longer hair - I dont understand our culture of robbing service members of their individual expression by enforcing clean shaven and a ultra short generic hair style for men. I just was in the company of a female AF O-6 Strike Eagle pilot who embraced individual self expression in a cool hair style without any compromise in professionalism or military appearance.
Are you sure you were in the military? That’s kind of a hallmark thing we do.

I guess age mellowed me a little! I get where you are coming from. But does it have to be that way? (rhetorically asked) Norweigan, German, Canadien and UK military comes to mind

Personal perspective, no. Ask that AOCS DI you revere so much what he thinks about the psychology of conforming, suppression of self interests, and obedience to authority.

So, now the US Navy lets anyone wear a flight suit? Why the hell is a bubblehead Admiral wearing a flight suit? Also, why is he wearing his sleeves like an AF guy? ??‍♂️??

I've seen admirals do it a lot. They wear all kinds of uniforms, even the weird ones that only they seem to care about (Service Dress Khakis, etc.)

But how cool are the Italians! That's a good looking underway uniform.
Not only that but they also drink wine with their meals on board.

It’s clear that the Italian pilot in the background bought his leather jacket in, well, Italy. Probably overpriced horse hide.
You'd be surprised at how reasonable leather prices are in Italy. There are tons of no-name leatherworkers making jackets, shoes, pants, and the like up near Firenze that will haggle with you.

I know…that was kind of part of the pun. In the old days whenever a MEU stopped in Italy it seemed de jure (wait, that’s French! - di diritto - for every jarhead to get a cheap leather jacket.

Not only that but they also drink wine with their meals on board.

Wine and water, those were the only beverage choices at lunch and dinner. The wine was okay, the champagne (sorry...sparkling wine now) they used for special occasions was awesome. The only real restriction to drinking was for the helo pilots who adhered to a 12 hour rule, sort of. After lunch they would sometimes open the bar for snacks, beer/liquor and soda but there had to be a 'critical mass' of folks who wanted to do it, pay as you go.

My senior midshipman cruise was on an Italian Navy cruiser that sat in port for the entire 6 weeks I was there, with the exception of an 8 hour 'Veterans Day' cruise and a 1.5 day NATO 'exercise'. About 30% of the sailors took off July and the other ~70% took off August, until they were all recalled at the beginning of August because Bosnia was heating up again as I was leaving. Talk about a bunch of really pissed off Italians. The whole experience was surreal from the moment I got to Italy until I left.
