So, now the US Navy lets anyone wear a flight suit? Why the hell is a bubblehead Admiral wearing a flight suit? Also, why is he wearing his sleeves like an AF guy? ??‍♂️??

In my brief experience, it seems that operational Admirals (CSG and up) are beyond community. Since an Admiral from any URL community could hold the job and is leading all communities, it's not inappropriate for them to wear the uniform of any community under them. It's not unlike a CO wearing the maintenance flight deck uniform on no-fly days.

I'd also argue that the more you go down the "who should wear a flight suit?" rabbit hole, the more likely someone is going to ask why we wear them when we aren't flying or not even in a flying tour. Personally, I'd rather have my flight suit at my desk job and Buffalo Wild Wings and not worry my pretty little head over Admirals' choice of uniform.

Totally with you on the sleeves though -- someone on his staff should've fixed that.

On one det, we gifted a good-dude DDG CO a flight suit and squadron name tag to wear on Fridays, and we called him skipper when he wore it to exasperate the other SWOs. Never did have a problem with flight quarters or getting a green deck on that deployment.

This has been the case since before I joined over two decades ago so nothing new, at all.

It’s clear that the Italian pilot in the background bought his leather jacket in, well, Italy. Probably overpriced horse hide.

Not to mention the hair product and beard trimming skills.
Love the beard. Every other NATO country permits facial hair and longer hair - I dont understand our culture of robbing service members of their individual expression by enforcing clean shaven and a ultra short generic hair style for men. I just was in the company of a female AF O-6 Strike Eagle pilot who embraced individual self expression in a cool hair style without any compromise in professionalism or military appearance.
