Seems like he either got the idea - or had the idea beaten into him... The website is dead.
I don't think AW would be here today if there was the same instant backlash. Different time and era. Not really a blog back then, more for family and friends that eventually went in a much different direction.
I can say from 12 years of experience that there has been negative and positive attention/recognition that I have received due to my operation of this site. 2004-05 were somewhat bad years when apparently CNATRA wasn't too pleased with the adverse affect that social media and the easy transfer of gouge had on the ASTB.
Overall a good experience running this site. But I doubt it could be created under today's immediate and direct negative publicity from peers and seniors. Rock meet tumbler. Etc.
I know I am counting the days till retirement and posting more freely.

Anyone interested in playing some fairly competitive tennis? I'm probably about a 4 on the Usta scale.
Also looking for people interested in sailing. I sailed in college, but don't have the cert to rent the boats out of the marina. Would be open to even going off base to do some beer races.

However, fair warning, you are working way too hard at making someone else out to be a "douche"...proving that in fact, you are acting like one yourself.
Word to the wise, you're wardroom will have lots of folks who "do weird things", aren't "super cool" in your eyes, "annoy you from time to time" etc...Guess what. People think the same of you. Put your arms around each other because they are all you've got. When the shrub club loses their mind, you protect each other...when you get stuck on a never-ending Fallon det...they are the ones who help your wife start the lawnmower. Those who need excommunicated will make it abundantly clear without your help.

You guys flamed the hell out of the Monseur dude, knowing fully that this forum was started by someone's blog. I guess the "older" crowd can poke fun at JOPA but we can't poke fun at our own.
