Biplane Ride!!

@ Blutonski: Yes...that pic was taken at Herlong airport in Jax. That airplane is an absolute sweetheart. He also owns a nice looking Waco biplane as well. I haven't ridden in that one though.

Burned up quite a few bucks in a Waco YMF 5 a few years ago. Just remember the flight is not over until you're tied down. Have fun.

This was my last Pitts ride :D Note, glasses are a great idea.

Have fun...

When I was a flight instructor my FBO owner had a Stearman. I was lucky enough to get a few rides it in it. I remember it was a blast.:icon_smil What I do remember most was the pain in my right leg the next day from stomping on the rudder during takeoff.

Enjoy your ride.

I seriously doubt that I will get the honor or taking off or landing....but never say never.

Dear wife gave me a Stearman ride for Christmas (Cavanaugh Flight Museum at Addison airport) several years ago. Although I flew the airplane for most of the flight, he wouldn't let me actually takeoff or land the airplane. I flew numerous approaches as they were trying to capture some actual sound bytes for a video game and there was a guy with the microphone and recorder at the approach end of the runway. I got an additional 30 minutes free because of this. Kickass ride and a great memory. Thanks, Honey....

I took a ride around Perth in a Tiger Moth my senior year of high school. Goofy airplane compared to everything else I've been in. The prop turned the wrong way and instead of rudder peddles there was just a bar. Thankfully the skid had been replaced by an actual tail wheel. Great flight though, and very pretty city.

Thanks to MasterBates for emailing me this pic of his 1st biplane ride....

YOU RULE MB!!!!

p.s. get well soon, you anthro-mofo!

^^I wore goggles like those when I went. I'll have to try to scan a picture in when I'm back at my parents house the next time...

as an MPA guy, I have a soft spot in my heart for this biplane.... not quite as nimble as a pitts or a stearman though!

Mission complete: Got my flight today. Wooo-Hoo!! I wasn't sure if the weather was going to cooperate, but it did.

Chuck took off and I flew the remaining 38 minutes to include the (assisted) landing. We flew down the coast from Oceanside to Pacific Beach and back. A bit windy, but it was fun. I had a smile on my face the entire flight. :D

This ranks right up there with T-34 spins, TA-4 ACM, and any EA-6B (front seat) Low Level!

Worth every penny. The leather flight jacket kept me warm.

On a side note, I met the infamous Neptunus Lex while waiting for my flight. Nice guy and I gave him kudos on his blog.
