Hey! Screw you guys! My parents got me the Blue Angels edition for me last Chanukkah after I got picked up for SNA. It's not cheesy!
I like it, and other than being painted a dark blue and yellow, and a TINY flag on the face saying "Blue Angels" it doesn't even really advertise the Blues. It's a sweet watch. Photovoltaic face, token wizz-wheel and other cool features = awesome.
EDIT: Didn't read the post thoroughly enough. I got the Eco-Drive, not the Navihawk, but my post is still valid.

Please note, I do not own the Blue "I'm really gay" Angels Citizen watch. However, Citizen does make some good watches for a reasonable price. I myself am wearing a Citizen Nighthawk EcoDrive. It does the same crap as the Navihawk, only a little less traditional of a design. I like it. I wear it more than my Omega (only so the Omega doesn't get banged up). For the record, when I fly it's a Casio G-Shock for me.

I wear my Omega all the time, even when I fly. If it gets "banged up", so what? I bought it to wear, and wear it I shall.
By the way, it's in the shop because the crown fell off. That was an effect of using it all the time, not by anything that flying did to it.

Yes...you have to deal with the Olympic emblem on the watch, but it is still an Omega Seamaster at an unbelivable price. Just a thought. Hope everything goes well.

Saw one in fashion time that was pretty nice. It was $1395. A Hamilton X-Wind Automatic.

I am a real big fan of Rolex submariner series. They are tough and hold value for years. I have been ejected from a race boat while wearing mine and it held up very well. Rolex also offers a refurb service to bring the watch back into new condition. It is a big deal for this young man, I would think that an investment in a Roley would be warranted. Stainless subs can be bought in the $3-4000 range, two tone for about $5500. Money well spent IMHO.

The perfect cheap pilot watch for everyday use. By that, I wear it everyday. Bag, civvies, SDBs, etc. For those of us who are not making the lawyer/hinge money.

I was quite surprised with Hamilton watches. The khaki x wind automatic is a "pilot" specific watch and is really nice looking. the Regatta and the Twilight were also models I thought were pretty cool. The nice thing for if you are going to wear it to work, is the face is sapphire crystal and is a 9 on the hard scale. Meaning only diamond will scratch it. At least that is what the shop dealer told me. That and it is made in America with Swiss insides. They were in the 1000-1,500 range, and I'm sure you could talk them down.
